The mission of the Outdoor Lab is to compliment the education, public service (outreach) and research mission of Clemson University. The Outdoor Lab shall serve Clemson University, its constituent civic organizations, campers, parents/caregivers, regional businesses and the community in conducting programs to enhance and improve the well-being of all users and represent Clemson University in a positive manner.
The Outdoor Lab is a part of Clemson University and is operated by the College of Health, Education and Human Development. We are a camp and conference center on Lake Hartwell- 7 miles south of Clemson, SC. We have residential camps for children and adults. Our programs serve persons with cognitive disabilities; children and teenagers who are speech or hearing impaired; children and teenagers who are economically disadvantaged; and children, teenagers and young adults who are blind or visually impaired. We also have weekend respite camps for parents who care for disabled children at home. Each year, we have a series of camps for older adults. We have a beautiful setting in the Clemson Forest on the shores of Lake Hartwell. We can accomodate up to 200 guests in comfortable cabins.
