Mission Statement
To conserve and sustain aquatic and non-aquatic environments in Papua New Guinea. Allowing integration with sustainable tourism through research and educational programs, PNG can become a leading pioneer and a role model for future preservation projects. Having the opportunity to showcase PNG’s raw beauty through conservation projects will allow for a thriving community that maintains the diverse ecosystems for generations. Allowing touristic access to the "final frontier" while maintaining manageable responsible ECO tourism and business strategies.
Description
Our Manta Ray Research Station was developed with the aim of creating a large database of all the mantas in the region. By collaborating with Manta Trust & Conservation International we hope to discover the reasons why so many mantas gather here collectively and learn more about their behaviour. Our goal is to expand the project into the community by helping locals build schools, medical facilities and home stays. While keeping the mantas safe from the risks of gill trade and discarded entanglement threats before it is too late.
