Mission Statement
The Mission of the Effingham County Humane Society is to reduce animal suffering in our county through educating the public and promoting responsible pet ownership, which includes spaying/neutering pets, appropriate pet identification, proper pet care and the adoption of homeless pets.
Description
The Effingham County Humane Society was incorporated as a 501c3, non-profit organization in 1979. Although still a very small local volunteer organization, we continue to strive and progress. The Society was on the brink of dissolution in 1996, when some dedicated volunteers took over the reins and started transforming the Humane Society into what it is today.
Our Programs
Pet Adoptions
The Humane Society is an organization that places homeless animals into new, loving homes.
Community Outreach
The Humane Society strives to make our local community a better place for people and animals by promoting responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals, and by educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Please contact us to speak at your event.
Spay/Neuter Program
The Humane Society offers discounted vouchers to the public in an effort to reduce pet over-population.
Our Office
The Humane Society office is staffed by volunteers. The Pet Adoption Center is located inside the Village Square Mall, in Effingham, right next to the Mall Office.
Office hours are 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. All adoptions are by appointment only.
We can be contacted by phone or email if you are interested in adopting a pet, volunteering, or in making a contribution.
Our Future Home
The new shelter will be located on Miracle Avenue, on the south side of Effingham. Building will commence on this state of the art shelter, once funds are raised.
