Mission Statement

The Division of State Parks plans, develops and maintains a system of parks and recreation areas for the use and enjoyment of residents and visitors. The Division also preserves areas of scenic, historic and scientific significance in Nevada.

Description

We are a historical state park approximately 15 miles from Las Vegas in the Red Rock Canyon. The park's history dates back to the 1830s as a resting place on the Old Spanish Trail, and was owned by radio star Chet Lauck, German aristocrat Vera Krupp, and billionaire aviator/producer Howard Hughes. We have several springs that supply water to a 3 acre reservoir, 3 pastures, a picnic area, and several miles of hiking trails. We are ~1000 feet higher in elevation from Las Vegas, keeping the park 10-15 degrees cooler.
