Mission Statement

The RDS Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people impacted by bipolar disorder who could not get the help they need because they are under- or un-insured. We help clients by offering diagnosis, treatment and education. We also educate family, friends, health professionals and anyone interested in learning more about bipolar disorder with free live Seminars, so they can support clients to manage their illness and live better lives.

Description

The RDS Foundation and Sutherland Center have been helping people impacted by bipolar disorder since 2001. We partner with the University of Colorado Boulder, where the Sutherland Center is located. To date, our services have touched the lives of over 1900 individuals and their families.

The Sutherland Center is managed by a licensed clinical psychologist with specialty in mood disorders. She trains and supervises qualified doctoral students in Psychology to treat people with bipolar disorder so more experienced healthcare professionals can treat clients with this specific illness.

The free Seminars are taught by the Associate Director of the Center. In addition to her specialty in mood disorders, she has over 15 years of experience treating people with bipolar disorder. We also offer the eight-part Seminar as an audio download for anyone interested in learning more. The Seminar Series is a comprehensive, accessible, easy-to-understand series covering everything from diagnosis to relapse prevention, medication management and choosing a psychotherapist, and sleep, diet, exercise, and how the illness might affect relationships.

We are seeking members for our Board who have community leadership potential.
