Mission Statement
Children’s Council connects families to child care that meets their needs and works with parents, providers, and community partners to make quality child care and early education a reality for all children in our city.
Description
At Children’s Council, we believe that all families deserve access to quality child care. So every day we help parents understand and navigate their options and pay for child care that meets their family’s needs. Because our city is stronger when children are well cared for, parents can work, and families can succeed.
Children’s Council works to increase the supply of quality, affordable child care available to San Francisco families through professional development and business support for child care providers. We offer workshops, technical assistance, coaching, consultation and financial support for quality improvement. Our Provider Support team respects the unique situation of each provider and strives to connect them to the most appropriate resources.
Our Health and Nutrition Department supports child care providers with resources on childhood health, nutrition and physical activity.
Children’s Council is deeply committed to advocacy for child care and early education at the local, state and national level. We sponsor the local chapter of Parent Voices, a parent-led grassroots organization working to make quality child care affordable and accessible to all families. Parent Voices members lead child care awareness campaigns through media appearances and interviews, testimony at budget hearings, meeting with legislators, and by organizing local and state rallies.
