The Ohio CDC Association (OCDCA) is a statewide organization of nonprofit community development corporations and associated organizations located in downtown, Columbus, Ohio. OCDCA has approximately 170 members representing most areas of the state.
Program activities include training and technical assistance for CDCs in affordable housing, such as the development of strategic plans, rehabilitation and construction management; microenterprise program development; community economic development focusing on commercial real estate development; and the delivery of financial education training and credit repair services.
OCDCA administers an AmeriCorps*VISTA program that places approximately 20 VISTA members with CDCs in Ohio to help provide affordable housing and operate housing programs; assist with asset building; and organize communities.
Through OCDCA, members also have access to funding, training and technical assistance for Individual Development Account (IDA) programs. IDAs are matched savings accounts that assist low wealth households to save towards a home, business development or education, and to effectively plan their financial futures.
Public policy development and advocacy are key services provided by OCDCA to its members. Recent focus has been on strategies and tools to address vacant properties, foreclosure prevention, funding for asset building through IDAs, financing for commercial redevelopment and the state's housing plan.
