Mission Statement

Camp Craig Allen is dedicated to the "overlooked" physically disabled children and physically disabled adults of North Texas. We will encourage self-awareness, positive influence, and independence in a therapeutic and educational programs in an accessible environment that promotes abilities and talents of those with the most physical challenges.

Description

Currently raising money and awareness for physically disabled children and adults in order to build a complete 200+ acre barrier-free camp facility. Camp Craig Allen's entire facility, along with programs and activities will be a complete wheelchair accessible environment to encourage personal growth, provide recreational activities to show actual abilities, broaden the experiences of those that are physically disabled with no age barriers.

We will provide continued love, friendship, and support to those with the physical challenges, whether from a disease or resulting from an injury. We will provide resources from the community of services and programs available for the camper and their families in order to promote independence and self-worth.

We will be an advocate and leader in tailoring programs that partner with local colleges to promote and educate with health care fields that relate to physical disabilities.

We will teach, inspire and grow those individuals that have a physical disability that if you create the barrier free environment, and adapt the program or activities, show the support and love- then independence and productivity can occur!

The heart that is beating to build this camp strives to put hope and joy into the lives of all of the people that are an inspiration to the world. This camp will be paradise for all of the disabled men and women who struggle to keep a positive outlook on life when at times it seems to bee so hard. This camp will be a way for the physically handicapped to forget about their handicap and live free for a week or two.

I have been involved with several organizations in a volunteer role, and with Camp Craig Allen, I have seen the most dedicated, passionate, caring people that put every bit of their energy and excitement into their cause. This camp means more than we can put into words for the individuals that it is being built for and I feel so very fortunate to be involved with this cause.

The people are amazing and wear their hearts on their sleeves!! It is all about people who have challenges with disabilities!! We can't wait until Camp Craig Allen opens in 2010!! That way people with challenges can live a normal life in their own special way!! So please help in any way you possibly can whether it be volunteering or donating a simple dollar! CCA offers my son a place where he can be free. He can be free to swim and play and move around with NO barriers, and no one staring at him. At CCA his chair can become invisible. Every person, child or adult deserves that. The camp offers people a place to be with people who understand them and their special needs. Samantha Dearing

Camp Craig Allen will offer a barrier free facility for me as well as for all wheelchair users. That is freedom from worrying about whether I can do something or not. I have been too camps as a younger individual with Muscular Dystrophy and can no longer go, but not in the case of Camp Craig Allen! I have a feeling of the unconditional love just by being involved to help Camp Craig Allen.

I would Recommend it for many reasons, I think that every person should have a place like Camp Craig Allen. One out of many reasons,is having a place to go where you can do anything without having to worry if it will be accesible for your wheelchair.

Camp Craig Allen is by far the best organization I have ever had the opportunity of working with. They are the most enthusiastic, dedicated, appreciative and hard working group of people. I personally know that the building of this camp will give so much to the kids and adults that it will serve. It will give them a chance to do things and be part of things that give them a sense of normalcy, self independence and self worth. I have had the privilege of working with CCA for over 2 years and enjoy every moment. I know that my time of volunteering and being a part of this organization is worth every moment. My heart is full, my life is greatly enriched by time spent volunteering with Camp Craig Allen. After each event I am always looking forward to the next event and how I can help and how I can do more to enrich the lives of those that will be served by CCA.
