I have been volunteering for Seattle chapter of AID since 2007 and it has been a life transforming experience Our activities: 1) Partner organizations in India send us project proposals - these are aimed a community-development in India and are across all spheres (education, agriculture, livelihood, womens empowerment etc.). We review the projects (my learnings:-) and support them by sending funds - which comes to the other main activity.. 2)Fundraising - we do fundraising through local events, sometime bringing in classical musicians from India. * I genuinely feel that I am doing my bit in helping my fellow beings through volunteering. * I have made many friends for life, fellow volunteers, through this effort. * My kids are more compassionate because they hear about the work and of needs of people. * My family is mentally stronger now; we made several positive decisions that wouldn't have happened without our volunteering with AID.
