Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity, under charter from Habitat for Humanity International since 1991, offers quality homes at an affordable price to low-income and very low-income families in the Washoe County, Nevada area. We provide decent housing to those who have the ability and willingness to repay a no-interest loan to Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity (TMHH). TMHH is able to construct homes at a very low cost by coordinating donations of money, materials, expertise, volunteer time, and sponsors. As a result, we are able to place families in a home of their own with an affordable mortgage payment (usually half the cost of a mortgage for a home of equal value). Within our program, families are screened based on their ability to pay a monthly mortgage and also receive education designed specifically to assist them in becoming successful homeowners.
