This is a short-term role to deliver flyers to a variety of community spaces in 1st and 2nd ring suburbs! The Community Equity Program (CEP) is an immersive political leadership program at Wilder that brings together up to 20 Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who want to get involved in state-level policy and fight for change in their communities. You can help local community members find our program! Flyers will focus on encouraging BIPOC leaders to submit applications by the upcoming CEP deadline of June 1. We need your help to reach local community hubs, such as BIPOC-owned businesses, places of worship, community centers and more, and drop off materials in 1st and 2nd ring suburbs within the 7-county metro area (Minneapolis and St. Paul proper are already covered). You'll search online to find places to deliver to. You may choose to call ahead or just stop by locations and ask if you can leave materials there. You can volunteer individually or with a partner - whichever you prefer. Flexible timing based around your availability. Must be completed in May 2022. Qualifications Needed: Access to transportation to visit local organizations within the 7-county metro region beyond Minneapolis and St. Paul in 1st and 2nd ring suburbs. Comfort using technology and searching online to identify community hubs for dropping off flyers, such as BIPOC-owned businesses, mosques, temples, coffee shops, nonprofits, etc. Comfort walking into new spaces and approaching people to ask about flyering options. Be 18 years of age or older. Parents and guardians can expect the highest quality learning and care for their children ages 16 months to 5 years with year-round enrollment at Wilder’s Child Development Center (CDC). Our staff and teachers continually recognize and strive to meet the diverse needs, abilities, interests, and cultures of children and families, where each person is valued and respected as a contributor in our classroom environment. You can join this dynamic team as a Preschool Tutor! About 90 percent of a child’s brain development happens before the age of 5! This means it’s the perfect time to help kiddos learn their ABCs, 123s and so much more. Focusing on ages 3-5, the Preschool Tutor will join our preschool classrooms to help ignite a love of learning and ensure kids are ready for school. You will promote individualized learning experiences through play, song, instruction, activities, and conversation with the goal of preparing preschoolers to be ready for kindergarten. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who cares about young children’s social, emotional and cognitive development to help provide educational activities and support kids one-to-one and in small group settings. Kids at Wilder’s CDC need you to offer the extra time and attention they need to succeed. In partnership with Ampact, we will train you to make an incredible impact as a tutor! Qualifications needed: Be 18 years or older. Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or follow exemption process. Ability to interact with and assist people of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, gender, etc. Experience and/or passion for working with kids. Ability to speak a second language highly desired, but not required. Individuals from underserved communities and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply. Tutors who successfully complete their terms of service will receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for educational costs at eligible post-secondary institutions or to repay qualified student loans. Members serving full-time are eligible to enroll in health insurance. Members serving full-time may qualify to receive child-care assistance. Receive high-quality trainings. No experience? No problem! Your Early Learning Corps service will begin with training to teach you everything you need to know and support you every step of the way. Be part of our special event crew! Volunteers are needed to help with clean-up at a Retirement Party for Wilder Research’s Executive Director, Paul Mattessich, on Tuesday, June 7 at Wilder Center, 451 Lexington Parkway in St. Paul. Volunteers may register for one or multiple shifts. A great opportunity for individuals or pairs. Help collect and take-down party materials, such as clearing tables, taking down signage, stacking chairs, vacuuming, and cleaning the space. Volunteers in this role will be actively moving around the event space and completing repetitive motions as they grab and lift items for cleanup. We rely on these volunteers to help us efficiently clean and pack up!
