Current open positions: Box Elder County (remote, part-time) Program Description: Welcome Baby is a free home visitation program (for families with children aged newborn through three years old) that promotes healthy, secure, and enjoyable beginnings for parents, new babies, and their family members. Trained volunteer home visitors visit families monthly, and bring with them information on developmental milestones, baby commodities (such as diapers, wipes, toys, and clothing items), a children’s book, and a learning kit. This is a self-appointed parent education program for which a visit protocol, evidence-based curriculum, individualized parent education plan, and a specific home visit framework has been developed. Position Description: AmeriCorps members will be titled "Home Visitation Coordinators" and will be staffed in a variety of sites, based on community need. These sites may range from medical clinics to community learning centers. AmeriCorps members will work to promote the importance of early childhood education and parent support in their community by working directly with families to educate them on the importance and value of home visitation, and assess the families; needs to get them enrolled in the Welcome Baby program. AmeriCorps members will collaborate with community partners, other home visitation programs and clinic/site staff in order to provide support to families with children aged newborn through three years old. In addition to conducting first-time Welcome Visits to new families, AmeriCorps members will recruit, train and manage community volunteers (home visitors) to provide regular monthly in-home visits and mentor families. Member Benefits: During their 12-month term of service, members receive a living allowance ($610.42/month for part-time, $1,244 for full-time). At the end of their term of service, members receive an education award that can be used for eligible student loans, tuition, or other education-related expenses ($3,097.50 for part-time, $6,195 for full-time). Members are also given an array of professional development opportunities, as well as connection to a large network of AmeriCorps alumni.

Help Others & Make a Difference * Earn Money for College Thirty-seven million Americans live in poverty. Through AmeriCorps VISTA, you can make a tangible difference. Become an AmeriCorps VISTA at the United Way of Northern Utah. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national program where community members have the opportunity to serve in local nonprofits, full-time for one year helping to eliminate poverty. In return for service, members receive a living allowance, a healthcare allowance, and other benefits. An AmeriCorps VISTA position is open in Ogden, Utah to help promote specific Early Childhood Education Programs through home visitations, volunteer recruitment. VISTA is needed to start as soon as possible. The position is a full-year commitment. Job Description:- Create a DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) improvement and outreach plan to ensure that the program is educated on local agencies that serve culturally diverse populations of individuals and implement practices into the Welcome Baby Program that will ensure a more effective method of serving families who are not natively English-speaking. Create a robust outreach and recruitment plan to enroll 18 AmeriCorps State and National members into the Welcome Baby Program, to serve as Home Visitation Coordinators in Box Elder, Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Summit counties. Create a training outline to ensure a smooth and thorough rollout of new program curriculum guidebooks in Weber County for home visitors with Spanish-speaking families. Create an annual training plan for home visitors to ensure access to relevant early childhood education topics, as well as community resources that are available for the families that they serve. Attend community events to market the Welcome Baby Program to potential program families, volunteers, and community partners. Support the Community Outreach Coordinator with ongoing projects such as donations, community events, and partner outreach. Compensation and Benefits: Monthly living allowance of $1,375 (for a yearly total of $16,500). Education award of $6,345 at the end of service year to use toward payment of student loans or future tuition, fees, and/or books at a college, university, or trade school. If the member is over the age of 55, they may gift their education award to a child or grandchild. All members can receive forbearance of payments on current student loans during their year of service. Purpose : You can help us make a difference in the lives of families in Summit County, Utah! Welcome Baby is a free home visitation program where trained volunteers make monthly visits to new parents in our community. During visits, Home Visitor volunteers share a free gift, milestone and development information, and additional community information . Length of Position : A commitment of at least six months with two or more families is asked of our volunteers. Time Commitment : Volunteers create their own schedule and choose the number of families they would like to visit per month. Additionally, we ask that volunteers attend at least one in-service training per quarter. Qualifications : We look for volunteers that have experience working with children and families.
