BIG SPRING STATE HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER ADVISORY COUNCIL INC

Description

In 1950 volunteers from Big Spring and Midland began coming to Big Spring State Hospital to provide volunteer services to the individuals served. Word soon spread and there was a need for more volunteers. In 1957, the Big Spring State Hospital VSC was formed and shortly after that a coordinator was hired to direct volunteer endeavors. The VSC was incorporated as a non-profit, tax exempt organization in 1967 and it membership consists of any vounteer serving Big Spring State Hospital and all persons interested in the welfare of the individuals served. The VSC has contrinued many ites to the hospital and provided many goods and serves. The VSC oversees operations of the Chalet Resale shop in Big Spring where all items are donated from the community and sold to the public for the benefit of the individuals served at Big Spring State Hospital. The VSC also oversees the annual fundraiser of Cars, Stars and Handlebars which a is reverse raffle to a chance to win a new vehicle.
