The Hearing Speech and Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati strengthens our community by supporting individuals and families to overcome obstacles to communication.

Description

The Center's services are delivered through three departments: The Audiology Department is staffed by Masters or Doctoral Level board certified and licensed audiologists. Services include: audiologic screenings and evaluations (hearing exams), assessments of aural rehabilitation, hearing aid dispensing, group aural rehabilitation programs, hearing aid repairs, custom noise protection and swim plug fittings, assistive technology equipment sales and training, (such as amplification devices for TV and telephones, TTY's, FM systems, visual signalers for doorbell, telephone ring and various alarms). The Audiology Department also provides support services for tinntus (ringing in the ears), hearing conversation education and awareness, and community education and outreach throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. The Speech-Language Pathology Department is staffed by Masters Level, board certified speech-language pathologists. The speech program services include: speech and language screenings and evaluations, group and individual speech and language therapy, and summer speech- language programs. Our skilled team of speech-language pathologists treat numerous disorders including (but not limited to): articulation, apraxia, autism, expressive and receptive language disorders, literacy, voice, etc. The Speech-Language Pathology Department also provides services in the community by screening children in "at-risk" areas and providing education to parents and caregivers as well as providing education along with a curriculum to early childcare specialists and educators focused on facilitating language and literacy in the classroom environment. Community Services for the Deaf is staffed by Certified American Sign Language Interpreters, an Advocacy/Education Specialist for the Deaf. Specific services include: professional sign language interpreting, 24-hour, 7 days a week emergency interpreting, sign language classes, independent living skills, employment and job coaching for individuals who are deaf, advocacy and education, Americans with Disabilities Act consultation, C-Print captioning services and a deaf teen support group/club.
