Mission Statement

Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International (GFLSCI)

We are a non-profit citizen diplomacy network dedicated to creating and strengthening partnerships between Fort Lauderdale and cities around the world in an effort to increase global cooperation on many levels. This Passport to the world promotes cultural understanding and humanitarian programming and stimulates economic development.

GFLSCI leads the movement for local community development and volunteer action by motivating and empowering private citizens, municipal officials and business leaders to conduct long-term programs of mutual benefit.

Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International (GFLSCI)

Initiated after the second-world war in Washington DC to promote peace around the world and envisioned by President Eisenhower, The National Sister Cities International Foundation has played an active role around the world for over 53 years and represents communities in all 50 US states, district and territories. The City of Fort Lauderdale revitalized its Sister Cities International program in 1986 and since today it has established diplomatic relationships with 16 sister cities around the globe.
