Mission Statement

It is our purpose to reach low income and disadvantaged families with an early intervention program that will increase the child's readiness and success rate in the classroom, as well as address the many needs of participating families. We provide educational, health, nutrition, and social services to meet the needs expressed by parents, families, their children, and the community.

Description

The center's comprehensive program is designed to meet the needs of families as a whole. We recognize the parent as the child's primary teacher, and facilitate a number of services to our families for the promotion of each child's total development.

St. Vincent de Paul Head Start-Southeast (Formerly SECO Head Start) currently serves over 270 children and their families, with two sites located in the Patterson Park and Canton communities.

The program currently serves a high immigrant population with 80% of ours families identifying as Latino/Hispanic, 70% of whom speak limited or no English.

It is the vision of St. Vincent de Paul Head Start-Southeast to create partnerships by collaborating with families, community organizations, and agencies in order to increase the quality of life for all the community's citizens. The child, the family, the community--all are integral parts of a successful Head Start program. We welcome each to participate and to become partners in our efforts to increase the quality of life for each child, each family, and each community.
