Mission Statement

Batavia United Way is a nonprofit organization charged with raising funds and dispersing them in a fiscally responsible manner to programs which directly benefit Batavians. Specific attention is dedicated to the areas of education, health, and income. We believe every child in the country should have a good education. Every citizen should feel financially stable. Every community should be healthy and strong. We support area nonprofits who act upon these beliefs by striving to increase the public's awareness and by acting as a conduit for collection of community contributions, and by directing funds to the most effective area nonprofits. Batavia United Way's vision also assumes we do more than wait for other non-profits to address current social service problems. Our mission and vision includes independently identifying community needs, and one project at a time, becoming a leader and catalyst for change or improvement.

Description

United Way locations primarily support a specific geographic area. Batavia United Way's focus is on providing support to non-profit agenies that support Batavians. These agencies, such as Tri City Family Services, Lazarus house, AID, Literacy Volunteers, and many more- are located throughout the Fox Valley area but have a proven track record of supporting Batavians in need.

Batavia United Way has one employee, an 11 person Volunteer Board and has office space generously donated to us. We keep our expenses lean so that we can give as much as possible to programs and services.

Batavia United Way is formerly Batavia Community Chest and has existed in our community for over 40 years.
