Mission Statement

Inspired by St. Augustine’s search for a greater understanding of God through self-discovery and communal life, the Augustinian Volunteers celebrate the restless hearts of young adults by inviting them to experience an intentional way of life that honors the dignity of others through community, spirituality, and service. In the Catholic tradition, volunteers build transformative relationships, inspiring an enduring commitment to the common good.

Description

The Augustinian Volunteers are a post-grad, 10-month Catholic volunteer program centered around the Augustinian values of community, service and spirituality. Volunteers serve in social service placements (including nursing-specific roles), elementary schools (serving as paraprofessionals, teacher's aides, substitute teachers), and campus ministry (both in the high school and collegiate level).

All costs associated with daily living are paid for by the Augustinian Volunteer program: food, housing, health insurance, household items, gas for shared community vehicles, travel expenses, small personal stipend etc. A primary function of the Augustinian Volunteers is to provide opportunities for young adults to be in service to others. Service is not just limited to the service sites with which the AVs partner; volunteers are expected to be in service to one another in community life as well.

The Augustinian Volunteers are looking for recent college graduates (21-29 years old) to serve domestically from mid/late-August 2022 to mid/late-June 2023. Service placements are in Lawrence, MA, Philadelphia, PA, San Diego, CA, and Ventura, CA. Volunteers serve in our international placement in Chulucanas, Peru from early January 2023 through mid-December 2023.
