Mission Statement

This event has a mandate to provide an educational and fun environment to embrace its agricultural heritage by providing a venue for local residents to display livestock, fruits, vegetable, baked goods, woodcraft, floriculture and educational displays.

Description

The Agricultural Exhibition as its name implies is an Agricultural event held for a three-day period in late April at the Botanical Gardens, in Paget Parish. It currently consists of school exhibitions, floral shows, animal exhibits, and equestrian programs, all related to Bermuda’s agricultural heritage.

The first Agricultural Exhibition was held in 1843 at Mount Langton. Governor Reid arranged the show in an effort to simulate interest in local Agriculture. This same year plowing was first introduced to Bermuda. The Agricultural Exhibition did not become an Agricultural event until 1955. Before this time the show was held bi-Agriculturally and cancelled in 1934.

The Agricultural Exhibition was first held in the Botanical Gardens in 1922 where it continues to be hosted until this day. Over the years the Agricultural Exhibition has seen many changes, yet it continues to be one of the most important and looked for to events on Bermuda’s cultural calendar.

Today the Bermuda Agricultural Exhibition is an icon of Bermuda tradition.

The Agricultural Exhibition is now a public-private initiative formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding between the AG Show Ltd and the Government of Bermuda. The AG Show Ltd was established in Bermuda in February of 2015 as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
