Mission Statement

The mission of the Loudoun Community Cat Coalition is to unite local and national organizations with our community to save the lives of community cats

Description

The Loudoun Community Cat Coalition (LC3) started in 2014 as a committee to talk about issues surrounding community cats. This was in answer to the many requests coming in to local rescue groups and our County shelter regarding community cats and kittens and the assistance that was needed from our community. It was clear that no single organization could handle the influx of requests and the resources required to answer all of the calls. There are many risk factors that community cats face and we found that with each situation we needed to call on multiple organizations to handle different aspects including rescue, foster homes, law enforcement, advocacy, and most importantly our community.

It was at this time LC3 form so that many organizations could work together to figure out and implement a solution alongside our community. Each organization would fill a need to address one of the risk factors and no organization would have to address every risk factor themselves.

In February of 2015 the Coalition committee voted to make the Coalition a 501c3 nonprofit. In May of 2015 LC3 was officially incorporated and by September of 2015 had received 501c3 status with the IRS.

The Board of Directors was elected and the Coalition committee became the Advisory Committee. The Advisory committee is advisory only without voting privileges and consists of two representatives from each of our partner organizations.

As of February 2016 the Coalition has over 10 partners.
