Mission Statement

The Staten Island Council for animal Welfare Inc.(SICAW) is committed to the rescue, care, shelter and adoption of stray, abandoned and unwanted animals on Staten Island. We are also dedicated to furthering the publicâ  s education concerning the issues of proper pet care and importance of spaying and neutering."


The Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare Inc.,(SICAW) is a non-profit, tax exempt organization (both Federal and New York State) and was founded in 1972.SICAW is dedicated to helping abandoned cats and dogs have a second chance in lifeâ ¦a chance to enjoy the rest of their days as cherished pets â  safe at last, secure and loved.Our waifs receive thorough health examinations by licensed veterinarians. Cats are tested for FeLV and FLV; Dogs are checked for heartworm disease. All Receive full inoculations, and are bathed, dewormed, and are spayed and neutered if of age.

I have adopted a cat from them in the past. They are very professional and thorough. Clo is especially helpful and will answer any questions you have about any animals whenever you contact her. I would highly recommend this organization to family , friends, and anyone else.
