The first principle is holistic community development concentrating in five main areas: agriculture, healthcare, education, water & sanitation, and small business development. The holistic nature of our model is based on the fact that there are many levers that cause and affect poverty. Addressing any one of these factors in isolation can only produce temporary success in the fight against poverty. The second principle is a firm dedication to rigorous measurement and evaluation of our progress. We hire third party consulting team to periodically evaluate our progress in order to identify our weaknesses and shortfalls. These objective evaluations enable us to identify and quickly address problems in our model and hold us to a higher level of accountability to our investors. Our focus on metrics also allows us to establish a defined exit strategy that prevents us from creating a crippling sense of dependency on our resources within the community. The final principle is bringing developed world citizens together with our partner communities to enable them to learn first-hand about poverty. We partner with corporations, universities, civic organizations, and churches to send volunteer teams on short-term trips that make a significant, lasting impact. These groups come alongside the locals to work with them on a specific project that is a crucial part of the overall poverty reduction strategy.
