Mission Statement

The mission of the Academic Decathlon is to encourage students to develop a greater respect for knowledge, promote wholesome interschool competition in academic areas of study and interest, stimulate intellectual growth and achievement, and encourage public interest and awareness of outstanding programs in our schools.

Description

The Academic Decathlon is a ten-event scholastic competition for high school teams in grades 9 through 12. Each team is made up of three Honor students (3.75-4.00), three Scholastic students (3.0-3.74), and three Varsity students (2.0-2.99) who compete as individuals and as team members in the following ten academic events: Mathematics, Art, Social Science, Economics, Music, Language and Literature, Interview, Essay, Speech, and Super Quiz.
