To maintain the 1763 battlefield between the British and Native Americans. To have school and public guided and walking tours of the battlefield. To maintain a Museum under the guiding of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Description

220 + acres of the 1763 battlefield area that occured in 1763 between the British and Native Americans. The British and American army of 450 men and pack horses with supplies was marching to relieve the siege of Fort Pitt when they were ambushed on Aug 6 1763 by the natives. The battle was over on Aug 7th with a loss of 110 dead and wounded on the British and American side when Col bouquet feined a retreat and defeated the ambush. Siubsequently the seige of Fort pitt was broken and the gate to the West was open for settling.
