Mission Statement

The purpose of the Missouri Council of the Blind shall be to promote the general well being of our members and legally blind people in Missouri, and to support or participate in other programs promoting the best interests of legally blind people everywhere.

Description

The Missouri Council of the Blind (MCB) exists to enhance the overall well-being of its members, and all legally blind citizens across Missouri.

Our 700-plus members work for causes that affect people who are visually impaired by volunteering their time in support of programs aimed at the betterment of the lives of the visually impaired. As a state affiliate of the American Council of the Blind, we join our voices with a respected national organization and work at both the state and federal level to form policy and teach our members to become self-advocates.

Organized in 1956, MCB currently has 23 affiliate branches providing support throughout the state to visually impaired Missourians.

The Missouri Council of the Blind is a support group that can provide more infomation and help guide you through the maze of questions that will arise as you build your new lifestyle. Information provided includes scholarships, summer camps, special services program, adaptive technology information, youth serices, health benefits, employment and legislation issues and public awareness programs.
