Mission Statement

Richmond Community High School is a nationally recognized leader in urban education. The school believes that inherent ability is broadly distributed among children from all walks of life however, society often fails to recognize the abilities and potential of minority students from low socio-economic backgrounds. RCHS was the first of its kind in the country, founded 40 years ago by a private / public venture. The Advisory Board supports the strategic plans of the school by providing private sector involvement, raising funds to support experiential learning initiatives, and assisting the teachers and administration in providing the 21st Century skills instruction that students need to achieve in a global society. For the past 5 years, 100% of students graduating from RCHS have gone on to college.

Description

The Richmond Community High School Advisory Board is made up of former RCHS students as well as business, college, and humanitarian leaders in the Richmond Metropolitan area. The Advisory board works to the school stay true to its founding principles by providing opportunities for experiential learning not provided in most public schools. The Advisory board not only raises funds for school programs but also supports an active alumni association and directly works with teachers, the administration, the PTA, and students to identify areas of improvement within the school.
