Mission Statement

As part of a growing international movement, The West Berkeley Design Loop promotes the benefits of shopping locally for home improvement, which supports locally owned businesses and keeps more money in the local economy. We promote vitality in our community by building connections between merchants, customers, designers, builders, and our neighborhood. We also promote creativity and local regionalism, utilizing products and expertise not available elsewhere.

Description

Both a design district and a merchants association, The West Berkeley Design Loop is a collection of locally owned home improvement businesses located in West Berkeley. We are bordered by Emeryville to the South, Albany to the North, The San Francisco Bay and highway 80 to the West, and San Pablo Avenue on the East. The executive director organizes volunteers to build connections, distribute information, and set up events. We hope to include all of the locally owned home improvement businesses in West Berkeley including merchants, architects, contractors, artisans, real estate agents, and also local restaurants. We host mixers as a way to foster personal relationships and referral opportunities.
