Job Description: Mental Health Partners MESA Volunteer Advocate Title: MESA Volunteer Advocate Supervised by: Hotline Supervisor, MESA/MHP Time Required: On-call 24 hours total each month or 3 text line shifts; two evening meetings (per month); paperwork Apply online: https://movingtoendsexualassault.org/volunteer/#hotline Training Provided: minimum 40 hours of multidisciplinary training by MESA/MHP 1. General Duties and Responsibilities: This is a volunteer/unpaid position through Mental Health Partners and MESA. Volunteers must first pass a background check before volunteering as an advocate. Volunteer advocates commit to staffing a 24-hour crisis/in-person response line to provide in-person crisis intervention, emotional support, legal and medical advocacy, information, and referrals for survivors of sexual violence, their friends, and family. 2. Specific Tasks Provide in-person response for survivors of sexual violence, their friends and family. Supply immediate emotional support, information and referrals to sexual assault survivors and their significant others. Act as an advocate for the client during law enforcement investigations; the criminal justice process; courtroom appearances; and medical procedures, including evidence exam. Definition of Duties: Be on-call during assigned shifts, a minimum of 24 hours a month Provide emotional support, information and referrals to sexual assault clients and their loved ones. Collaborate with other agencies (law enforcement, hospital personnel, etc.) to benefit clients and coordinate care. Provide thorough and appropriate follow-up, support, and referral services, as needed for each client. Protect the confidentiality of all clients, except when mandatory reporting applies, and to provide counseling according to generally accepted ethical principles. Complete all MESA paperwork and data collection within 48 hours of the end of the on-call shift. Follow the MESA Fundamental Guidelines. Attend all required monthly team and supervision group meetings. Monthly meetings are 1 ½ hours the first Thursday of each month. Supervision groups meet once a month for 2 hours. Communicate with staff about scheduling conflicts or changes. Ensure clients are aware of the Victim’s Rights legislation that entitles them to be informed, present and heard at critical stages of the criminal justice process.

Canine Classic Fun Run Volunteer Description Job Title Canine Classic Fun Run Volunteer Team Moving to End Sexual Assault Time Required 2-8 hours on April 28 th and or 29 th Job Description: This is a volunteer/unpaid position through Mental Health Partners and MESA. Potential roles: Set up and tear down Aid Stations - distribute water and Gatorade to Race Participants on race course Check ID’s at beer garden- stamp hands of folks over 21 years of age Help clean up all areas of Canine Classic 5k - course, vendor area, tables, tents, etc. Help ensure all race participants and canine companions are safe on the race course Help hold leashes of dogs for owners - registration, bathrooms, after the race Ensure right recycling/waste bins are being used by participants and vendors Set up of food tables at finish line, Doggie Bag distribution, distribution of food and drink Race Participants Run errands for captains and fill in as needed With bike - ride course prior to race starting, be the lead person of the race to keep runners on course Set up and organize t-shirt tables - manage handing out of shirt to racers and selling all merchandise Pick up of Bagels, Coffee, and Ice - help with any lastminute purchases Assist staff members with handing our racer packets and registration Direct flow of traffic in the parking lot to ensure adequate space for all racers and attendees Check in Race Participants - distribute vouchers for t-shirts, bib & pins - direct to chip area and merchandise table for shirts Register new Race Participants - distribute vouchers for t-shirts, bib & pins - direct to chip area and merchandise table for shits Set up sponsor tent as needed, assist all vendors and sponsors with set up Minimal Qualifications: Must submit an Events & Marketing Volunteer application Must attend a 1-hour MESA Canine Classic Volunteer Training Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic attitude Excellent interpersonal skills Must be organized, professional and reliable Determination to make the event a success Ability and willingness to engage in required training Highly self-motivated and works well in a team setting Benefits Opportunity to develop new and existing skills in event coordination Enjoyment of meeting new people in your community and working as part of our skilled and experienced volunteer team Satisfaction of knowing you are making a valuable contribution in the movement to end sexual assault in our community
