Mission Statement

Underdog ResQ saves good dogs from bad situations regardless of breed and age. We serve New England, New York, New Jersey and South Carolina. Volunteers are needed in each state.

What makes Underdog ResQ special?

  • Underdog ResQ rescues local dogs. Local to us means most of the northeast - New England and Tri States. We do rescue dogs from South Carolina but those dogs are being fostered by South Carolina residents.
  • Underdog ResQ takes pride in offering great customer service. We make it a point to respond to each application and email within 48 hours.
  • Underdog ResQ is an all breed dog rescue which is not too common. We judge the temperament and not the breed or age and admit good dogs if we have a foster home match.
  • Underdog ResQ provides lots of support and guidance to its foster parents. Each foster parent, in addition to having the support of the volunteer coordinator, has a buddy matched up with them with each foster dog they get.
  • Underdog ResQ has a variety of talented volunteers on its team!
  • Underdog ResQ is active in the animal welfare community.

Description

Our Purpose:

  • to rescue dogs of adoptable temperament and match them with appropriate families despite their breed or age
  • to prevent the surrender of dogs by providing training, behavior and breed advice to dog owners having difficulty training their dogs
  • to build a community that will work together to save good dogs from animal shelters by collaborating with local shelters, animal control agencies and rescue groups
  • to screen adoption applicants in order to place dogs in permanent homes
  • to recruit more volunteers so that Underdog ResQ is able to expand its services and admit more dogs at one time
  • to educate the community about proper animal care, training and responsibility through a network of volunteers.
