Mission Statement

The Cupcake Girls provides nonjudgmental and confidential support through respect, resources and relationships to those in all realms of the adult entertainment industry, including sex workers and those affected by sex trafficking. Through direct care and community resources, we partner with these individuals and empower them in their pursuits.

The building blocks of The Cupcake Girls began when founder Joy Hoover, a cosmetologist from Michigan, took a position applying makeup at The Adult Entertainment Expo and AVN Awards, the largest adult entertainment convention and award show in the world, hosted annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was inspired by the women she met at this event, and after a period of research and preparation, founded an organization tailored to addressing the unique challenges of adult entertainers, such as complicated hours, non-traditional pay structures, often limited access to resources, and many other hurdles resulting from the stigma surrounding the sex industry.

In early 2011, The Cupcake Girls was launched and began direct outreach to women working in Las Vegas strip clubs, legal brothels in Nevada, and adult entertainment events sponsored by the pornography community. As relationships developed, and word spread of the great value The Cupcake Girls were providing to the adult entertainment community, The Cupcake Girls opened a second chapter located in Portland, Oregon.

I never received a response from this organization. I sent a message through volunteer match, I also sent a message through their website. It would have been nice to at least get a response from the program. If they no longer need assistance, perhaps they should remove their organization from the site temporarily.
