Mission Statement

Phoenix High Functioning Autism & Aspergers Support Network (aka Phoenix HFA) is the only Phoenix area group where KIDS AND PARENTS get together regularly (kids have fun separately as parents listen to speakers).

It is a metropolitan Phoenix area, grass roots, volunteer support organization for families with high functioning autism (Asperger's & related disorders). Its mission is to positively impact the lives of these families through education and social networks while preparing the kids successfully for the future, both emotionally and vocationally.

Description

This group-both parents and children-get together once a month, usually the last Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm at Scottsdale Bible Church (room E102). Our group is NOT religious-the church hosts us.

The parents are in a separate room working on HF autism issues-often have speakers as part of the meeting.

Kids are grouped into younger kids (typically elementary school age) and the tween and teens are in another room. Each room has a Lead caregiver and their assistant caregiver to supervise.

The adults learn how to help their families and kids meet others and make friendships that can continue personally and separate from the meetings. The kid's areas have multiplayer wii games and other fun things to do.

We are both a 501(c)(3) public charity and an Arizona Department of Revenue Qualified Charitable Organization (as of 2013).
