Through the Neighborhood and Park Initiatives Unit, Virginia Avenue Park provides a wide variety of recreational, cultural, and educational programs and opportunities for Santa Monica youth and their families. These programs address the needs and well-being of the Santa Monica community through classes, events, and workshops that promote self-sufficiency and quality of life.
Virginia Avenue Park (VAP) offers free after school programs for youth ages 6- 24 that live in Santa Monica or attend school in Santa Monica. The Thelma Terry Building houses the elementary school program which runs from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Homeowrk assistance, games and arts & crafts are offered for 1st - 5th graders. Older youth, ages 11-24 can register for the Teen Center's "drop in programs" which run from 1:00 - 9:00 pm Monday - Thursdays & 1:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday. The Teen Center offers homework assistance, computer access, visual arts and recreation.
