Mission Statement

The Newell Volunteer Fire Department provides Fire and First Responder services to the citizens of Newell and Hancock County in West Virginia. The Newell Volunteer Fire Department strives to provide the best quality service to the citizens and visitors to Newell.

Description

The Newell Volunteer Fire Department was founded in Febuary of 1907.We have continued to serve the citizens of Newell and Hancock County with volunteer members for 109 years. The department was the first volunteer organization in the state of WV to obtain a thermal imaging camera for fire rescue. The department currently has 3 such devices today. The department also provides river fire and resuce operations on the Ohio River. The Newell VFD also has a Junior Fire Department. The department responds to many calls throughout the year and provides assistance to the neighboring communities and states (OH and PA).
