Mission Statement

The Texting Awareness Foundation’s mission is to save as many lives as possible. Our goal is to make the public, especially the teen population, aware of the dangers of texting and driving. We are committed to educating the public of the possible legal and physical ramifications that are consequences of Texting and Driving. Given that distracted driving is the leading cause of death for teenagers, our mission is to change behavior when it comes to using cellphones while behind the wheel. Our "Remind You" campaign is designed to reduce accidents and end the fatalities simply by making the public aware of these dangers.

Description

Prior to its inception, the Texting Awareness Foundation founder Rocco Panetta, saw the trend of so many drivers who were texting while driving. As a salesman, who spent countless hours on the road, he witnessed this deadly trend increasing among drivers, especially teens. He knew he needed to step up and make a difference. He decided to take action to educate the drivers of the danger that can lead to death. In May 2010, he founded the Texting Awareness Foundation to put an end to texting and driving, which has become a significant danger on the roads and to our teen drivers, now the number one killer of teens in the US.
