Description
Broward County Community Development Corporation, Inc. d/b/a Broward Housing Solutions (r) (BHS (r)), is a 501(c)3 non-profit, Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), that was established in 1993 after a task force that included representatives from the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) identified the critical need of affordable housing services for the low income residents in Broward County struggling with mental illnesses. Since our inception, BHS (r) remains dedicated to its mission of providing quality housing opportunities to meet the needs of lower income or homeless people with disabilities who also have mental illness.
There are over 27,000 people diagnosed with a form of severe persistent mental illness (SPMI) residing in Broward County, Florida. Regrettably, many citizens struggling to maintain their mental health face a host of challenges when getting their mental illness under control and maintaining a home on their own. At BHS (r), we have made it our goal to help house as many low-income/homeless individuals, and their families, as possible through our many housing programs.
