Mission Statement

The mission of the Midtown Farmers Market is to create a vibrant forum in South Minneapolis that connects community residents and nearby rural food producers in a mutually beneficial economic and cultural exchange.

Description

The Midtown Farmers Market is a local community-based market in south Minneapolis. The market brings local food and art producers together with Minneapolis community members every Saturday from 8a-1pm May-October, and Tuesdays 3p-7p June-October.

More than 80 vendors sell their wares at the Midtown Farmers Market each year, includeing local growers and food producers from MN and WI, local artists, and prepared food vendors.

Each year over 55,000 people visit the market. In 2006, it was the first Minnesota farmers market to accept SNAP-EBT. We currently provide a dollar-for-dollar SNAP-EBT match, up to $10 per market, to encourage EBT participants to use their benefits at the market and improve access to fresh, healthy, local food for all.

Our Vision and Values

We envision a community-based food system that assures equitable access to healthy, locally produced food, supports reinvestment in the community, and provides for the long-term viability of our foodshed.

We place value on community, equitable access, local, small scale, cooperation and collaboration.
