Mission Statement

Our mission is to break the cycle of childhood hunger through education, leadership, advocacy and service.

Description

Founded in 1970 as the Hunger Task Force,Children's Hunger Alliance has since become one of the largest sponsors of USDA meal programs for low-income children in Ohio. Children's Hunger Alliance feeds the hungry bodies and minds of low-income children through four program interventions: School and Summer Nutrition, Afterschool Nutrition and Education, Early Childhood Nutrition and Education, and Public Policy. Children's Hunger Alliance feeds 17,000 children per day through our direct service programs and tens of thousands of additional children through our partnerships with schools, governmental entities, and faith-and community-based organizations. When possible, we combine nutritious meals with nutrition education and opportunities for physical fitness to combat childhood hunger and obesity in a comprehensive manner. Children's Hunger Alliance also educates policy makers and the general public about the availability of federal nutrition programs, the status of hunger in Ohio, and its impact on Ohio's children and families.
