Mission Statement

"At Kids Count we provide life skill training and educational programs for Arizona’s Foster children to experience success in aging out and become contributing members of our community."

Description

The state of Arizona has 19,000 youths in foster care, we rank number two in the nation for children in the state foster care system. Many of these youths will age out of care at 18 ill prepared for independence, with little to no support in their communities. A large percentage of these youths will unfortunately end up homeless, jobless, incarcerated, pregnant and at least 65% will not have a high school diploma. Kids Count is a non profit focused on improving the outcomes for foster youth aging out of the foster care system. It offers both life skill training and tutoring to improve education, taking a two-pronged approach. Kids Count will focus on ensuring the youths have a strategy in place to empower them to become a successful part of our communities.
