Mission Statement

Our Mission:
Your YMCA, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, is an association of volunteers, members and staff open to and serving all, providing programs and services which develop spirit, mind, and body. Financial assistance is available based on need. The YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need.

Our Core Beliefs

WE BELIEVE that all people, especially children deserve an equal chance to reach their full potential and should prepare themselves to connect to and serve community

Our Cause

Our cause defines us. We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

Description

OUR AREAS OF FOCUS
We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

FOR HEALTHY LIVING

The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to the communities we engage.

FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We're an inclusive organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

I will not likely recommend this opportunity because when I emailed the organization telling them when I am available for them to contact me the organization decided to call me during the time I told them not to call. When I addressed them about the encounter they never got back in contact with me. In conclusion, the organization doesn't read emails carefully neither do they respond to emails.

communication was not good & was unable to participate because of that. I was promised to receive an email today with upcoming events & never got it.

The YMCA is a great organization for the community as a whole, I volunteered at last years event and it was a lot of fun, I was able to meet many new people and also have fun assisting parents and their children making Christmas crafts, and everyone had a great time.

It seems like a great opportunity to work with various age groups. I have never volunteered at a YMCA, but I would be more than happy to say one day, "I volunteered at the YMCA and it was great!"
