Description

Volunteer Services, a program of CatholicCharities, provides basic in-home assistance to low-income elders and adults with disabilities to help them continue living independently, safely, and with dignity in the comfort of their own homes. The generosity of our volunteers brings opportunities and hope to individuals who are often isolated and in need of kindness and support. We offer both individual and group opportunities to provide transportation, light housekeeping, yard care and more. All volunteers receive training, optional mileage reimbursement, liability and ongoing support to make sure the volunteer experience is rewarding for all. Catholic Charities is a state contracted 501-C3 and provides services to all who qualify regardless of race, religion or creed.

Helping low income seniors & disabled to live independently and stay out of a nursing home is very worthwhile and rewarding. I’ve volunteered with VCS for over 6 years and in many ways it’s the ideal volunteer opportunity. There’s a wide variety of tasks to choose from, you can do as much or as little as you want, many tasks can be scheduled to fit your preferences, and you’re dealing directly with the clients. The VCS staff is great to work with, they’re flexible, professional, and they take good care of their volunteers.

Giving back to those in our community who need us and would maybe not otherwise have someone to help is a genuine heart based experience. Working alongside individuals who give of their own time to reach out and make a difference everyday is inspirational.
