During these uncertain times, how can we help?

The Dream Center serves New Yorkers right where they are, to where they dream to be.
The Dream Center is a community centered non-profit established in 2008 based out of Chelsea, New York.
We host community events in the Chelsea-Elliot housing complex twice a week. These events include free block parties and weekly community markets. These events are a fun and humanizing way to meet the tangible needs of the community like food, clothes, toiletries, and household items.
We also have a program called Residential Assistance where we visit clients in their homes and take care of household needs the individuals may have. Our clients live throughout the city and are referred to us through social workers, other residents, and members of their communities. The needs of our clients are quite ranged. Many are elderly who are lonely and appreciate a visit while others need assistance with their compulsion to hoard as we work toward a goal of having a clean home.
In addition, we host an event for the homeless and those in immediate need in the East Harlem community every Friday afternoon. We distribute food, clothes, hygiene items, and many other resources including information about housing, meals, and church programs available to everyone.
All of these programs are ways that we currently engage volunteers, and we are always looking to grow our partnerships in the city.
