Healthy Beginnings believes that all children should enter kindergarten healthy and prepared to learn. Our work fosters healthy, nurtured children, families and communities by bringing accessible physical, developmental and behavioral screenings to children from birth through age five.
Our goals are to:
1. Provide early identification of health and developmental concerns in children ages 0-5.
2. Educate parents on developmental milestones and how parents can help their children achieve them.
3. Build bridges by referring parents and children to community providers for primary health care or early childhood development services and treatment.
Children receive screening and referral in the following areas:
Hearing Vision Speech and Language Concepts and Cognitive Skills Motor Skills Health, Safety and Immunization information Behavior Nutrition Dental Infant and Toddler Development Car Seat Safety Red Cross and other Community information
We have 14 screenings a year throughout Central Oregon (Bend, Redmond, Sisters, La Pine, and Sunriver). Each station is ran by a trained volunteer.
