Mission Statement

The mission of the Clawson Historical Museum is to preserve and interpret the history and heritage of Clawson by: Cataloging and preserving documents, records, paintings, photographs and all materials relating to the history of the City of Clawson and its people; Encouraging visitors to become aware and appreciate the vast history of Clawson and the surrounding area. Illustrating the "Simple" and not so complicated way of life back in time to the younger generations. Providing to the public access to past village and city documents, records, photographs, and all available items of interest that have historical value.

Description

The Clawson Historical Museum is owned by the City of Clawson, Michigan. It is governed by a Historical Commission of five members appointed by the Clawson City Council. It is managed by a curator appointed by the City Manager. Its operating budget is funded through the City of Clawson and augmented by donations from the Clawson Historical Society.
