The Talking Tech Mentor teaches technology to interested St. Vincent Meals On Wheels clients based on their needs. All classes and training will be conducted via telephone. The ideal volunteer will have strong listening and effective communication skills. Volunteers must be age 18+ and pass a background check. Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, or Chinese is a plus. You can make a difference in the lives of 1900+ homebound seniors and vulnerable residents across Los Angeles especially during the pandemic when the need for social connection has heightened.

Overview: The Talking Tech Mentor is a remote opportunity that teaches technology to homebound senior/disabled St. Vincent Meals On Wheels clients based on needs and preferences. All classes and training will be conducted via telephone or video. Some of the classes involve basic computer training and online activities for education and socialization. Impact: You can make a difference in the lives of 1900+ homebound seniors and vulnerable residents across Los Angeles. Grow your skills and advocate for those in need. Volunteer Roles and Responsibilites: The Talking Tech Mentor teaches technology-related topics via telephone or video, will effectively communicate the various topics of interest in a clear and intelligible manner, and will anticipate the learning needs of clients. The ideal volunteer will have active listening and effective communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, or Chinese is a plus. Impact: You can make a difference in the lives of 1900+ homebound seniors and vulnerable residents across Los Angeles. Vounteer Roles & Responsibilities: The volunteer must have the ability to discuss various topics of interest. Must communicate clearly and patiently, and have the ability to draw out a shy or reluctant participant. Must submit logs of client calls on a monthly basis Requirements: The volunteer must possess effective communication skills. In addition, volunteers must be 18+ years of age, pass a background check, and complete a Social Call Self-Training with staff consultation if needed. St. Vincent Meals on Wheels is seeking Driver and Runner Volunteers to provide meal delivery service to the client's residence. The Driver and Runner work as a team to ensure all clients assigned to their route receive the right meal. The Driver safely transports the meals within a specific route to each client address. The Runner provides courteous and timely door-to-door meal delivery service to the client. Team work duties include: preparation for the route, loading of the vehicle, delivery of meals to the client, and unloading of vehicle. Qualifications include strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse staff and volunteers in a team environment and attention to detail. The performance of duties involves working outdoors in varied weather conditions and the physical abilities to climb stairs and lift/move objects of ten pounds or more. Drivers require a valid California Driver's License and a clear Department of Motor Vehicle record.
