Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve literacy in Brockton's public schools by providing elementary school students with one on one reading coaches who will work with them throughout the school year. We aim to bring senior members from the Brockton community into the schools to work with students and develop meaningful mentor/mentee relationships.

Description

City Pride/Leaps in Literacy is an intergenerational Americorps program in Brockton, MA that brings cmomunity volunteers into elementary schools to work with students who are reading below their grade level. The program aims to improve students' reading levels and self-confidence through one on one instruction from a reading coach. Our goal is to accomodate as many students as possible by building a strong base of volunteers throughout the community.
