Youth America Grand Prix is the world's largest international student dance competition, which awards $300,000 in scholarships each year to dance schools within the United States and internationally. The mission of Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) is to support and develop world-class dancers ages 9 to 19 of all ethnic, economic, and geographic backgrounds by providing scholarship auditions and educational and performance opportunities, and by serving as the global network of dance, connecting students, teachers, schools, dancers, dance companies, and audiences.
YAGP was founded in 1999 by Larissa and Gennadi Saveliev, former Bolshoi Ballet dancers, to provide access to training for all talented dance students, regardless of background. Since its inception, more than $3,000,000 in scholarships have been awarded at the Regional Auditions to young dancers to attend some of the world’s most prestigious dance schools, including the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre, The Ailey School, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, La Scala Ballet Academy, and The Washington School of Ballet, among others. More than 50,000 dancers have participated in YAGP’s educational programs, scholarship auditions, master classes, and performance opportunities since 1999, and today upwards of 300 YAGP alumni dance professionally in over 80 world-renowned companies, including American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Houston Ballet, to name a few. For many aspiring dance students, simply participating in YAGP Regionals is an esteemed credential, allowing them to gain entry into a training program or ballet company.
