Mission Statement

The Arizona Community Foundation and its affiliates are a statewide philanthropy and partnership of donors, staff, volunteers, nonprofit organizations and the community working together to build a legacy of giving by empowering and aligning philanthropic interests with community needs. ACF also sponsors special projects, convenings that explore specific issues and collaborates to organize community-wide resources around commonly identified problems and opportunities. Currently, ACF's key funding areas include: Arts, Culture and Humanities; Community, Neighborhood and Economic Development; Education and Scholarships; Health and Human Services; Environment and Species Protection; and Law, Justice and Public Safety. The Statewide Affiliate Network brings together the best thinking of local leadership to meet regional concerns through a network of community foundations. Organized into five regions statewide, Affiliates are staffed by four regional offices located outside Phoenix.

AmeriCorps*VISTA members leverage human, financial and material resources to increase the capacity of low-income communities across the country to solve their own problems. When VISTA members complete their service, they leave behind lasting solutions to some of our countries toughest problems. Service helps members develop an ethic of service and the leadership skills needed for active, productive citizenship. Research shows that AmeriCorps members are more likely to maintain a commitment to their communities after their service has ended.

Description

ACF offers a variety of collaborative and statewide initiatives that mobilize volunteers, ensure a brighter future for Arizona's youth, engage students in their communities, and harness baby boomer experience. These initiatives include, but are not limited to: Home Town Competitiveness, Communities for All Ages, Campaign for Working Families, Alliance for Arizona Nonprofits, and Education. VISTA members will support and expand ACF's capacity to more fully develop and implement these initiatives statewide, including rural and tribal Arizona. They will organize local leadership, help communities to understand which initiatives can be successfully implemented locally and assist in linking them to internal and external resources.
