Mission Statement

To end global suffering and death from neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) by leveraging international investments for NTD control and mobilizing the distribution of proven-effective, low-cost treatments.

Description

The Global Network, launched in 2006 and headquartered at the Sabin Vaccine Institute, is the first-ever global effort to combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). It was designed to integrate ongoing efforts to combat individual diseases in order to expand treatment coverage in a cost-effective and collaborative way.

With our partners, we are generating momentum to raise the profile of NTDs and to establish them as a critical policy issue in global health. Simultaneously, advocacy, resource mobilization, and the tremendous work of our members are yielding significant successes on the ground. Hundreds of millions of the world's poorest people are currently receiving treatment for NTDs via a rapid impact package of essential drugs that cost as little as 50 cents per person per year.

NTD control is both a "best buy" in global public health and a key step towards achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals. Through expanded partnerships, greater outreach capacity, and heightened public awareness and political momentum, we can come closer to ending the cycle of disease and poverty and allowing children and families to survive and thrive.
