Mission Statement
CADRE (Community Asset Development Redefining Education) is an independent, community-based, parent membership organization in South Los Angeles founded in August 2001. Our mission is to solidify and advance parent leadership to ensure that all children are rightfully educated regardless of where they live. We seek to effect deep changes in some of the city’s most challenged schools and neighborhoods, by deepening both parents’ individual involvement and advocacy for their own children and their participation in institutional policy change that affects greater numbers of families in the long run.
Description
CADRE’s primary strategy for fulfilling our mission is a holistic model of empowerment and leadership development focused specifically on parents/caregivers and education as the main engine of community development. We utilize grassroots outreach and engagement tactics to prompt and reveal South LA parents’ desires and willingness to be social change agents.
