Wanting to volunteer your time to help patients and families in your community? Comfortable using computers and wanting to get some experience in the healthcare field? Then perhaps this opportunity is for you! Sacred Journey Hospice provides palliative care to terminal patients during end of life. This care primarily takes place in the home, with multiple disciplines making visits to the home. Some of our patients are in other settings, such as assisted living facilities, personal care homes, and nursing homes. Our disciplines focus on comfort care ranging from clinical care to spiritual care and everything in between. Our volunteers play a vital role to our patients and families as well. We are looking for volunteers who are available to assist on a weekly basis in clerical/administrative activities. Includes computer work, Microsoft Office, data entry to medical records, assisting in compliance/quality control, etc. Adequate education and training will be provided. We look forward to working together to assist our patients and families in the community!

Can you listen? Can you be a compassionate friend? Can you hold a hand or give a hug? Can you offer up to four hours of your time to a family in need? Do you have a heart for the elderly or sick? Hospice patients and their caregivers need your help. It doesn't take much to touch a heart and change a life, and anyone with a compassionate heart and a few free hours once a week can help. Companionship is easy: We'll pair you up with a family who needs support. We'll help make a schedule that works for you and the family. And you'll help a family within 30 minutes of your location live better. Sit with the patient and listen to their story, or read to them, or play cards. The mental and emotional well-being of our hospice patients is extremely important to us, and volunteers are able to reach patients in a way medical staff just can't. Some patients live alone. Others with families, some are in our inpatient care unit, or another facility, like a nursing home, assisted living facility, or personal care home. Volunteer in the environment you feel most comfortable with, and know you'll have the training you need to be a good companion. Companions are like friends with training. You'll NEVER help with medical care like changing, feeding, or medicating patients. Companions are needed all over Atlanta (Barrow, Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Haralson, Heard, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Meriwether, Morgan, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Pike, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton counties).
